Though not being a beach destination, the sea in Faial is warm and clear in summer and there are some fine small beaches and natural rock pools.

In Horta, the most popular beach is Porto Pim very protected and ideal for children. In Praia do Almoxarife, 5 min. drive from Horta, there is also a nice black sandy beach.

Outside Horta, the natural rock pools of Castelo Branco, Varadouro and Comprido are great for swimming and sunbathing.
